Matchday one of the Champions league: Preview and Review

Chelsea and Man Utd struggled to get their 1st win of the group-stage in the Champions. Wolfsburg’s Grafite looking on top of his form after scoring a hat-trick. Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener for Real and for the entire league. Porto looking to qualify in my opinion after playing well against the hardest team in group d. Bayern off to a great start. Only two draws in the 1st day.

Liverpool look sure to grab a win. Lyon vs Fiorentina looks to be a good game in group e. Inter vs Barca probably the best match-up in the group-stage. Group g looks to be the group with the most come back teams to return to the Champions. Arsenal looking to have the easiest group.

Predictions: Liverpool win, Fiorentina win, Inter win, Sevilla win, Stuggart win, AZ win, Arsenal win.

From Adebayor to Champions League

EPL is in there sixth week now?? Chelsea and Manchester City look decent. Defoe and Adebayor look dangerous. They mite tear up the EPL this season. UCL starts tomorrow. The best fixture probly being Inter vs Barca on Wendsday. Fantasy League isent free anymore. Random thoughts. Real Madrid don’t convince me at all. Barca dont need Ibra but ehh it works. Still trying to set up my UCL fantasy team. I got alot of reading to do. Trying to get back to Onside Soccer and start Twitter for readers of my blog. Comments?? Please.

2nd leg semi-final preview: #2

Barcelona will travel to Stamford Bridge for the 2nd leg of the Champions League semi-final. The competion stats still favor Barcelona. Lionel Messi with 8 goals, and Xavi with 6 assist. With Manchester United already in the final, Chelsea or Barcelona must turn around the goalless draw from last Tuesday.

My prediction: Barcelona win.

Arsenal v Manchester United results: Manchester United won 3-1, 4-1 agg.

2nd leg semi-final preview: #1

Manchester United will travel to the Emirates Stadium for the 2nd leg of the Champions League semi-final. The competion stats still favor Arsenal but Arsenal will have to score at least one goal if they plan to fight for the final at Rome. Robin Van Persie and Mikeal Silvestre are back in the Arsenal squad as well as Rio Ferdinand who is back in the Manchester United squad after suffering a injury to his rib and bruising his lung.

My prediction: Manchester United win

1st leg semi-final preview: #2

Carlos Vela, Arsenal striker "fear of having swine flu outbreaks"

Arsenal will travel to Old Trafford for the 1st leg of the Champions League semi-final. Arsenal will meet up will defending champions, Manchester United. Arsenal with the advantage of Emmanuel Adebayor, who has neted 5 goals in the competion, 1 more than Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov. Also will the advantage of captin, Cesc Fabregas who scored both of Arsenal’s goals in the premier league on Sunday against Middlesbrough. Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie and Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney both with 2 yellow cards in the competion. Robin Van Persie’s injury will bring hope for Mexican striker, Carlos Vela, who was feared of having Swine flu outbreaks, to either start or come on as a substitute for Arsenal.

Chelsea will travel to the Camp Nou for the 1st leg of the Champions League semi-final. They will meet up with Spanish league leaders Barcelona. Barcelona’s Lionel Messi with a 3 goal advantage over Chelsea’s Champions League top goal scorer, Didier Drogba (5 goals). Barcelona’s Xavi with a 1 assist advantage over Chelsea’s Frank Lampard (5 assists). Barcelona’s Rafa Marquez and Chelsea’s John Terry both with 3 yellow cards in the Champions League.

My predictions: Barcelona win

2nd leg quarter-final preview: #1

Barcelona and Liverpool will both travel for the 2nd leg of the champion’s league quarter-final. Barcelona will meet with Bayern Munich in Germany. Barcelona with a 4 home goal advantage and with the champion’s league top goal scorer, Lionel Messi (8 goals). Liverpool will travel to Stamford Bridge to meet with Chelsea after a 1-3 defeat in the 1st leg. Chelsea with a 4-3 victory over Bolton over the weekend and Liverpool will the decision to play or not play the injured captin, Steven Gerrard. Liverpool will need at least 3 goals to advance to the semi-finals.

My predictions: Barcelona win, Chelsea win.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea will both travel for the 1st leg of the champions league quarter-finals. Bayern Munich will meet up with spanish league leaders, Bareclona. Bayern Munich with the disadvantage of Miroslav Klose injured. Klose has scored 7 goals in the champions league, alike Steven Gerrard. Chelsea will not travel far as the meet with the english premier league’s  second best team at the moment, Liverpool.  Steven Gerrard with a 4 goals advantage over Didier Drogba, Chelsea’s  champions league top goal scorer.

My predictions: Barcelona v Bayern Munich tie, Liverpool win.

Tuesday’s results: Villarreal v Arsenal tie, 1-1; Manchester United v FC Porto tie, 2-2.
